PC slow start due to USB devices?
I have a PC I built myself some years ago (now used as a secondary PC) that has a P5WD2 Prem Asus. Intel motherboard and a Pentium D 830 CPU. All USB 2.0 ports. I have an HP Photosmart printer with a card reader connected via USB and also a 500GB drive WD My Book external USB. When booting the PC and both of these devices are connected to the PC takes about 5 minutes to allow the POST to run because it is checking external drives. What settings in the BIOS I have to change to get this fixed? QuickBoot is enabled and working paper or the card reader is set as boot drive, only the DVD and the main hard drive.
Well, you're certainly looking in the right place because it spends more than age POST. little difficult to specify an area in the BIOS to change without seeing as everyone is different. However, two things that comes to mind: 1. Do you have USB on the menu of your boot order? If so, you may be searching means of booting your external drive. Try either disable 'or boot from USB devices, at least change a priority. 2. (No other thoughts here, which is not): My pc sometimes do after an accident, I think removing the power lead to the PC (compared to just turn off) and then re-insertion and helps to go again! although I personally believe that option1 is the most likely.
