Is £176 a good price for a 2TB external firewire hard drive?
I'm looking for a high capacity firewire hard drive at a good price. I'll be using it mainly to store and transfer video files.

no... thats slightly overpriced.... and firewire is slowly being phased out to be replaced with the mega-fast usb 3.0 standard.... compared to usb 2.0 which has transfer rates of 420mbps the usb 3.0 has transfer rates of (up to) 8gb/sec ... yes thats not a typing mistake.... 8gb/sec
however in regards to a 2tb external drive i have found the "Hitachi Simple Drive Rev 3 2TB Desktop Hard Drive Hi Speed USB"( http://www.ebuyer.com/product/194843 ) for just under £120... and allthough its only usb 2.0 ( and usb 1.0 ) it does the same job and is ideal for storing files and transfering video files
one of the best 2tb external drives i have seen is the "Western Digital My Book Essential 2TB External Hard Drive Hi Speed USB"( http://www.ebuyer.com/product/180509 ) and for £139 it represents excellent value
it looks good and has some excellent features including western digital smartware,,, this has options to secure and encrypt your data and also has back up options..everything you need when you have valuable files and documents
