What is the maximum number of partition you can have on a 1TB external hard drive?
I am thinking of making 5 partition for my 1 TB
3 NTSC and 2 Unformatted drive in case I need FAT32 or just NTSC.
Using XP if that matters.
You can have a maximum of 4 partitions per disk.
If it is a drive that will will boot the operating system, then you MUST have at least one primary partition so the OS can boot from that partition..
If you make 1 primary partition, then use the rest of the disk for an extended partition, you can create logical drives within the extended partition.
You can have a maximum of 26 total, because drives are assigned letters and 26 is the number of letters in the English language.
And yes, each one can be formatted with a different file system if you want.
