I recently had to turn off my laptop, running Vista, holding down the power button until that was disabled with force. When I turned back again my external drive from LaCie 1 TB drive, just has a blinking blue power button instead of a constant blue button. It did not appear in "My Computer", so I turned off my laptop and connect the hard disk on the desktop, ie XP, and continues blinking blue. How do I fix this without losing data? Try connecting back into the laptop. Then turn on the laptop. If it is not recognized by the computer, go to Control Panel and select Add Hardware.
