Can you edit video from an external hard drive portable HD if out of space?
Hello, I have a 100 GB hard drive on my computer Sony VAIO (VGN-FE550G) and have edited video on DVD through Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 with no problem. But now I'm running out of space, because for my second project I have plenty of DVD video material. Do you think if you experience any problems connecting an external hard drive and work with my video from there? I will be connecting via USB 2.0. Thank you!
Yes you can. It can be a bit slower, depending on the USB connection and how other devices are using the same USB bus. One thing that may help. Move 20 GB hard drive to the external drive, then use the two disks together to video projects. Capture from outside the core files while using the internal "cache" or temporary files. When read and write from one to another, you will see a net gain in performance, as they are providing a flow of material edited DVD.
