How do I format an external hard drive to Windows again after using it to back up Time Machine on Mac?

I have been using 3200AAJB my WD External USB Drive as a backup for Time Machine a couple of months and now I just replaced it with a larger external HD. Now I want to return Reformatting the drive for use with Windows again, but I can not get it to appear on the My Computer. Also, when I pull it in Device Manager, that gives me no option to format. I'm using VMware Fusion to run Windows XP SP2 and I need this new format before you give someone. Please help! When I do these steps, the format option is grayed out. Everything is gray. ???

You can also use Disk Utility on the Mac side to format as FAT32 for Windows applications> Utilities> Disk Utility, select the correct drive in the left menu and choose the erase tab, and then from the dropdown menu, select: MS-DOS (FAT). Click the delete button and wait. Because the unit is in Windows format Mac may have trouble working with him, MacOS can read Windows formats, but not to "round (especially if it's daily IT)
